Drawing The Maps -
Public Input Hearings

Starting in September of 2019 and going well into 2020, the House Redistricting Committee will be holding hearings in various parts of the state. The purpose of these hearings will be to get public feedback from communities on what the next round of redistricting maps needs to look like.

The way our districts are drawn up impacts every thing that affects us all on a daily level. Having fair and effective representation is better achieved when our lawmakers are drawing up boundary lines in a way that benefits communities, not the safety of their seat.

We need to mobilize ourselves around these hearings - To testify, to be a presence, to be observers of the redistricting hearing process. Check below for the tentative hearing schedule of committee hearings and find the one nearest you!

Official Hearings Posted:

Austin, September 10

The Changes We Support

We are part of a coalition of organizations and groups working to bring about redistricting reform in the state of Texas by building public support and championing legislative policies that can fix the broken way we draw maps.

We support an independent redistricting commission that would adhere to strict, nonpartisan criteria in drawing districts and that would advance a truly transparent and community based process that prioritizes people over parties.
