Call Lawmakers - Fight For Voter Rights Advances

As news broke over the weekend that state officials flagged 95,000 Texas voters for citizenship checks to determine eligibility, a few prominent elected officials took to social media to promptly start painting a narrative of “rampant” illegal voting in Texas.

What we know as of right now is that those claims are 100% wrong. The Texas secretary of state has made no such statements about any illegal voting. We will not buy into these scare tactics as a way to ramp up support for punitive measures that too often only hurt vulnerable, eligible voters.

We’re urging you to take action in a couple of ways:

ACTION for 1/28/2019:

Call your elected officials in the Texas Legislature to tell them you will not support any efforts that undermine voters.

You can use the sample script below:
Hi, my name is ____________ and I’m a constituent in ____________’s district. I’m calling because I want to encourage my representative/senator to focus on legislation that advances voter rights in Texas. Legislation that would provide online voter registration, for example, or that makes voting more accessible for college students by putting a polling place at their university. I believe that any claims about voter fraud in the news are deliberately misleading and completely irresponsible. I don’t want to see restrictive policies that only hurt some of the most vulnerable, eligible voters we have in our state. I hope my representative/senator will continue fighting for Texas voters and not against them. Thank you.”

AND, join us in signing and sharing the petition to let our lawmakers in Texas know we're not falling for another round of misleading claims about voter fraud in the state of Texas. We have too much work to do and we want leaders who fight for voter rights!

Thank you for joining our efforts! Help us spread the word by sharing this action!
