Read: Rio Grande Valley Child Poverty Report
The "State of Texas Children 2017 - Child Well-Being in the Rio Grande Valley" report was released this past week from the Center for Public Policy Priorities and we're linking it below.
From the report:
"Mexican-Americans in the Rio Grande Valley have been denied equal access to opportunity for several generations through discrimination and segregation in schools, neighborhoods, places of employment, and courts. There were no middle or high schools for Hispanic children in the Rio Grande Valley until the late 1920s, and Hispanic children continued to attend segregated and under-resourced schools into the 1970s."
